Spring is in the air here in Central Minnesota as I am sure people all over the midwest are experiencing the same thing. It's been a winter unlike anything else I think I can remember and a total 180 from last winter. Last winter we had record amounts of snowfall with yearly totals of 100" and this year we maybe have seen 6" in total.
Last winer I was hardly able to get out ice fishing as the large amount of snow made lake transportation nearly impossible for someone like me who doesn't have a snowmobile which meant I was really looking forward to hitting the ice hard this winter. Little did I know that this year wasn't all that much better. Getting around on the ice has never been easier all year long, however, getting on solid ice was the main challenge. Despite this I still managed to spend quite a few hours on the ice this season and find some awesome success.
Now that ice is going off the lakes we are starting to really feel the changing of the seasons. Migratory birds are making their way back north, maple sap is running in abundant amounts, some trees are starting to bud out and the daytime warmth of the sun is growing rapidly. One thing that is also changing is I am starting to see more people getting outside and enjoying the outdoors participating in all kinds of activities which for me, is one of the coolest things to see.
As someone who is not only avid about the outdoors but also avid about fitness I can't help but get excited for people as I see them get outside and experience more of what the outdoors has to offer. You see, Word of Waterfowl has a core belief in taking care of yourself and pushing yourself to find that true potential because when we do this we open the door to endless opportunity. What do I mean when I say opportunities? Well, if we take care of our bodies and we work daily at achieving our health and fitness goals we become more able to experience more of what it is that we like to do. For me, fitness has really played a role in my outdoor pursuits. It has allowed me to access waterfowl honey holes that are a long ways back that most people will never get to all while carrying in all of our gear on our backs but let me tell you, it's always worth it. Being in better shape has drastically increased my overall experience of the outdoors.
Maybe for you getting in better shape will allow you to go on longer hikes with your friends or maybe it will allow you to further enjoy an outdoor activity with your kids instead of watching from the sidelines. Getting in better shape will not only look different for everyone but it will also mean something different as well. With the days getting longer and all the signs of spring showing up I can feel this refreshing wave of motivation. I would dare to say that this time of year is probably the second most popular time of year for people to become motivated to making some lifestyle changes and getting back in shape. New Years is probably the number one time that people will feel this way.
With spring in the air most people are feeling the excitement of summer approaching and with that, realizing that means beaches, vacations, family outdoor gatherings, fun in the sun and lake days. This is a great motivator for people to want to start getting in shape because after all, it's way more fun to get in shape all while experiencing more of the outdoors at the same time as outdoor activities provide a great opportunity to get in shape.
So with all of that being said maybe you're someone who can relate to the state of feeling more motivated as the warmth of spring and summer start to arrive but you're unsure of where to start or how you should approach your new motivation. I am going to share with you a tool that I use every single day and it helps me not only stay on track with nutrition but also lays out the gameplan to help me reach my goals. I use an app where I have a real life advisor who helps me make changes to my plan as my goals change and helps to hold me accountable to the actions that are required to get there. If you need a game plan or a great place to start down below is the same app I use on a daily basis. It provides so much value and is a surefire way to getting you headed the right direction.
I hope all of you have a kick ass day and let's get out there and make the most of this changing of the season.
